This year, the Zsolnay Light Festival celebrates Ireland in a special Focus on Ireland programme.
To mark the occasion, we present Dance of Danú, a 15-minute Irish step dance and Hungarian folk dance co-production created in collaboration with the Erin Irish Dance Company and the youth ensemble of the Bihari János Dance Ensemble and Art School.
Danú is an ancient Celtic river goddess, and the Latin name of the Danube, Danubius, is believed to derive from her name. The title therefore references both Hungary’s greatest river and the world-famous Irish dance phenomenon Riverdance.
Choreographers:
Edina Rab (Hungarian folk dance)
Dorottya Jakubek Zimboránné (Irish step dance)
Gábor Zimborán (Irish step dance)
