Hamerli Courtyard – Downtown Branch Library and Csipkefa Children's Library

The memorial room dedicated to Nándor Várkonyi, located within the Downtown Branch Library of the Csorba Győző Library, was arranged according to the recollections and guidance of his granddaughter, Ágnes Kende. The furniture, bookshelves and books have been restored to their original positions, recreating the room exactly as it appeared forty years ago.
This is not a traditional museum display. The room feels so authentic that visitors may have the impression that Nándor Várkonyi has simply stepped into the next room and will return at any moment to continue his work.
As part of the Zsolnay Light Festival, visitors are invited to a special evening tour of this evocative space, where the legacy of the “Holy Man of Pécs” comes alive by lantern light.
